The newest version of the world's most powerful software for genomic analysis, envi 5.1, is now available for free download. The latest release includes a number of exciting new features and enhancements: support for longer reads and improved base-calling accuracy, robust tools for doing beta diversity and binning analysis with the latest OTU picking algorithm "MOCAT", visualization improvements to make it easier to manipulate 8-, 16- and 32-bit images at once, as well as improved export functionality that can output JPEGs, PNGs or TIFFs in various formats directly. Click here to see what envi 5. 1 can do for you. envi is a fully integrated package for analyzing, visualizing and processing data from a wide variety of sensors and platforms. envi provides tools to import data from multi-geophysical sensors, image files or spreadsheets, filter the data based on location, sensor type or time intervals, visualize the results as images or derived statistics and export the results as text files for further analysis in third party software packages. In addition to sensor data, envi also provides tools for importing sequences from standard nucleotide sequence databases such as Genbank or EMBL/Swiss-Prot. The application is currently being used by researchers in a variety of disciplines including earth science (e.g. geophysical imaging, microbial ecology, geochemical analysis), microbiology (e.g. metagenomics or viral metagenomics) and biology (e.g. genomics). The latest version is now available for download at the envi website at www.envi-software.com . envi is developed by the Environmetrics Group of the Department of Earth Sciences, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York USA. The Environmetrics Group has members with expertise in many different areas of earth science including remote sensing and data processing in geophysics, microbiology and biogeochemistry. In addition, the Group has a long-standing interest in public access to scientific information and open-source software. The group maintains an online database for all software including available patches and updates. The data also includes links to external websites with additional tools for use in envi, as well as sources of software if needed. website is https://envi-software.com/ http://www.envi-software.com/envi5_1_for_macosx.html https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=QhbJ_J84HGg envi 5.1 released http://www.envi-software.com/blog/2015/09/envi-51-released/#more-23824 http://journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/article?id=10.1371%2Fjournal.pcbi.1003868 http://www3dflashcards4kids. cfa1e77820
